Another nail-biting game between Moor Mead's U8 team and Teddington Athletic ends in a 3-3 draw, the second stalemate this season.
Moor Mead started as the brighter team, displaying fine touches and excellent mobility. However, Teddington's league experience began to tell and they combined a more physical approach with experience at set-pieces to come back into the game. Teddington scored half-way through the first half, Miles rattled the cross-bar with a free kick reminiscent of a young Beckham, before Jamie followed up a saved shot to make it 1-1 at half time.
The second half saw sustained pressure from Teddington earning them an early goal. William equalised soon after, calmly slotting in from a great cross. Dilly made some fine saves, Elizabeth was a rock at the back, Tye and Charlie were ferocious in midfield with Jeremias having a fine game as a box-to-box midfielder.
Just as it looked that Moor Mead were gaining the upper hand, Teddington scored again, rather luckily - but no Moor Mead heads dropped. Sustained pressure earned us a corner which Nico converted with a 'facer' from Miles' whipped in delivery.
Overall, a draw was probably a fair result. Moor Mead looked the better side for skill but Teddington's experience gave them a shape and a discipline which we will need to learn from for next season.
Well played to all!
