New team, new season, new kit, new sponsor, new corner flags - Moor Mead United made an excellent start to the 2020/21 campaign. The result was made all the better by a fantastic all-round team performance.
DAN H capped his birthday weekend by opening the scoring - a clever hooked finish from Farhad Amiri’s free kick (1-0). Then after sustained pressure FARHAD made it two just before half-time (2-0).
The opposition started the second half brightly but United regrouped and asserted themselves again. Sam Chronnell's clever pass put NATHAN C through for number three (3-0), ASTON C scored a towering header from a corner (4-0) and FARHAD netted twice more to claim his hat-trick (6-0).
Astute management of the substitutions kept the team fresh and positive as Ashtead tired. There were excellent performances all over the pitch with the defence looking very composed, the midfield tackling tenaciously and the wingers creating multiple opportunities.
It’s early days but this was a really promising start for our new lineup.
